Beta oneTesla v.1 finally working

Postby flin » Thu May 21, 2015 2:40 pm

It's been roughly two and a half years since I got the kit at MIT Splash 2012, but after lots of debugging I recently got it working! I had to make some modifications to the interrupter to get it to work with the v.1 interrupter firmware.

I'm thinking about buying a spun aluminum toroid to prevent the sparks flying in other directions.

Great to see you got it working! Let it be known that persistence is key :)

Thanks again for being one of our earliest testers at MIT Splash back in 2012.

did you make a new secondary? it looks a bit green

I'm actually still using the inner tube toroid haha just spent a while laying down the aluminum tape carefully and smooth.

I think I got the one turquoise secondary at MIT Splash, the rest were copper colored.

I might retape my toroid since buying one costs $60 + shipping. It's kinda tough to keep it smooth though since the tube deflates with time.

at one point I did make a toroid with 14 awg solid core wire and it had the same capacitance.
