I was trying to make the GDT buzz with my 7m optic cable but it was impossible.
Only with some strong input, like from the flashlight, GDT clicked. Then I cut my fiber in half and have heard buzz at last.

Re: Yet another OneTesla w/o kit
I enjoy to work on this project.
Have made another custom build of OneTesla interrupter. It went SMD today.
I have routed another circuit board without some unnecessary components, like a battery plugin or AVR programming interface. I programmed it with Atmel Atmega Socket Firmware Flashing Tool
Board, routed in EagleCAD:

Re: Yet another OneTesla w/o kit
Here is my build.
Finally it's ready and was tested and worked well from variac up to 150V.
Thanx to OneTesla team for this project and to Mr. loneoceans for inspiration with his own projects.
1. Half-bridge on FGA60N65SMD x2
2. Bus-capacitors 1000uF 250V x2
3. Drain resistors 100K 0.5W x2
4. Cooler fan 12V supplied from LM7815
5. Rectifying bridge KBPC3510 + fuse 250V 10A
6. GDT
7. 6.8R 1W resistor in parallel with 1N4148 diode x2 for each gate
8. TVS two and two 1.5KE220 in series from collector to emitter
9. Current transformer
10. Home-etched retraced OneTesla controller circuit board:
Where my primary will be:
And this is what I proud of - ON/OFF switches for low- and high-voltage circuits

Re: Yet another OneTesla w/o kit
UPD:
6 turns of AWG-14 primary with 940C30P1K (0.1uF 3000V) capacitor;
2060 turns of AWG-35 secondary (560 Ohm active resistance).
Calculated with JavaTC frequencies were 211.7 kHz for the primary circuit and 239.8 kHz for the secondary
with frequency detuning of 11.7%
Measured frequencies were 212.2 kHz for the primary and 222 kHz for the secondary resonant circuits
with freq. detuning of 4.41%
It's not an excellent result but still.
Maybe I'll be able to create a smaller topload (that I cannot do with locally available materials) or I'll add the 7th turn for the primary (that I don't really want to).
