In addition to shipping will I get charged for customs when the order reaches my country?

If your country does not have a free trade agreement with the US, yes. EU countries in particular will typically charge 20% VAT.

And the customs folks give you strange looks.

What is that?
Tesla? Never heard of that?
Tesla coilt? Seen them on Command&Conquer, never knew they really exist?
Can I categorise that as computer spares?
