Very proud of our oneTesla TS!

Postby scasillas » Mon Feb 07, 2022 4:46 am

Yesterday we successfully build and tested our oneTesla TS! Amazing...! Increadibly powerful...!

We have two questions:

- We often got sparks comming out from the toroid directly (at one or two places), apart from the main sparks comming out from the breakout point. Is this normal? Shall we fix something to avoid this, or it is nothing we should be worried about? See what I mean in the image below:

- After long time running the tesla coil and playing with it (probably stressing it too much), the fuse blew. We have the 220V kit, as we are placed in Europe. The fuse that came with the kit was a 125V 4A fuse, while the board says "Replace with 250V 10A fuse only". We have 250V fuses. Shall we use a 4A or a 10A fuse?

Thank you very much for your help!

I wonder if you ever got an answer about your fuse question elsewhere?

Are you using the breakout point? In the photo it looks like you do not have the breakout installed.

Cheers,

Dear Pip,

Thank you very much for your answer.

Regarding the fuse, we decided to cover our shoulders and use the 250V 4A one. It is working fine. It never flew again.

Regarding the extra sparks, we do use the breakout point. The image is not very clear, but the breakout point is generating the largest sparks. We think the smaller sparks appearing in other parts of the toroid happen when the toroid has small metal burrs that are not completely filed. We haven't smoothed it yet, but we think they should disappear if we use a nail file or glass paper to file any burr in the toroid.

Best regards,

Sònia
