The gate drivers are identical in the TS kit; swapping them doesn't make any sense. The video was was taken at low-power and in bright sunlight and it was hard to see sparks, but they are there.

OH okay the schematic makes sense now I was wondering why there was an extra inverter before the gate driver.
since the polarity GDT and primary are now controlled the phasing is predictable.
check the inside of the secondary for arcing? that loud sound has to be coming from an arc somewhere

No internal arcing in the secondary yet, but it's only a matter of time give the poor design of the endcap assembles.

While playing a file from the SD card push the upper button to increase the power (volume) and the lower button to decrease the power. You should see progressive bars on the second line of the LCD display move up or down accordingly.

Thanks! That wasn't obvious, but it worked just fine! Unless your willing to plow through the source code, instructions for the use of the interrupter are pretty much not existent.

Be careful when turning up the power. From the posts I've seen, people are having problems with arcing inside of the secondary. The resistance of my secondary is very high for a small coil (800ohms). I would guess that the shortness of the coil combined with the high internal resistance increases the likelihood of internal arcing. The wire appears to be #38 AWG.
It would be best not to arc the inside of your secondary. Wait until a viable solution for the problem can be found. The arcing damages the inside of the PVC pipe and leaves a deep carbon track. Elemental Carbon is conductive. To be able to use that coil again will require that all of the carbon tracking be completely removed; so that no carbon will be left to encourage another arc.

The cause of the internal arcing is known. It is caused by the design of the end caps. Specifically, bringing the ends of the secondary wire inside the secondary is the root cause of the problem. The work around is to design an endcap that does not bring the wire inside, but rather a half inch or so away from it. Another thing you can do to reduce the possibility of internal arcing in the secondary is to add a solid baffle inside the secondary and cover the edges with a few thick coats of polyurethane so that there is no path between the baffle and in inner wall of the secondary.
